TSUNAMIS
ACTIVITY 1: Go to the following interactive web site: http://www.whoi.edu/home/interactive/tsunami/.
Through this site you will learn about tsunamis. Take notes on notebook paper or use the teacher-made graphic organizer so that you may write a one page report on what tsunamis are.
Your notes will need to include the following:
1. What is a tsunami? Describe it.
2. How do tsunamis form?
3. What are signs that a tsunami is coming?
3. How do tsunamis hit land?
4. Facts about ONE historical tsunami: name, date, location, cause,lives lost.
5. Closing sentence such as: "Tsunamis are powerful forces."
ACTIVITY 2:
Using your notes, create an Informational paper on Tsunamis.
Your paper will need to include the following in order to score a 3 out of 3 or a 100:
1. What is a tsunami? Describe it.
2. How do tsunamis form?
3. What are signs that a tsunami is coming?
3. How do tsunamis hit land?
4. Facts about ONE historical tsunami: name, date, location, cause,lives lost.
5. Closing sentence such as: "Tsunamis are powerful forces."
*The paper must be a minimum of two pages if handwritten and 3/4 page if in a word document.
