Chapter 8:  Airy-Go-Round

Professor Sherman learns about an invention that was designed completely by the children!  This invention is called the “Airy-Go-Round.”  The children did all the design work, had a little help building it, and had to create a schedule for using the invention that all the children would agree with.

Task 1:   Complete Your Balloon

You should be in the final stages of finishing your tissue paper balloon!

  • Following the directions in your packet, complete the assembly of the gores.

  • After completing your final seam, examine each panel to inspect for holes and make repairs.

  • With help from your teacher, attach string on top of the balloon, and add a collar.

  • Using the Balloon Tester, the teacher will inflate your balloon for a final check.

Task 2:  Assist Classmates

Once your balloon  has passed inspection and is hanging up, you may work with other teams to help them complete their balloon.
